Description
YourMovieProject concerns itself with the human side of medicine and is headed by neurologist and medical researcher Richard G. Pellegrino. M.D.,Ph.D. The mission of the project is to provide an effective media voice for patients through entertainment. Patients with chronic illnesses have been forced to develop extraordinary solutions to extraordinary challenges. We believe that these people have something to teach all of us.
Patients with chronic illness. If you take 100 people with any chronic illness, 20% will be doing fine and will find ways to live full lives, 20% will not come out of their room and the rest will be somewhere in the middle. We want to use entertainment and storytelling to allow the first 20% to talk to the last 80%.
Friends and families of people with chronic illness. It is difficult to make your loved ones understand what you are going through without sounding like you're bellyaching. However, entertaining books, movies and documentaries can start a conversation about what life is like in a painless way. Even your 17 year old will agree to sit down and watch a medical thriller, and if the supporting characters with a particular illness are properly crafted, he can learn something about life with that disease.
