The York Region District School Board is Canada’s fastest growing publicly funded school board and the fourth largest school board in Ontario. It ranks among Canada’s best public school systems.
The York Region District School Board serves diverse urban and rural communitieis north of the City of Toronto. It is an excellent, highly developed and fully addredited public education system.
School Year at a Glance – The academic year begins in early September and ends in late June. There is a two-week winter break in December /January, and a one-week spring break in March. YRDSB recognizes the significance of all major religious holidays, and appreciates that students may be absent for religious reasons at certain times of the year.
Entry Dates – The entry date for elementary school is in early September. Since most secondary schools are semestered, the entry dates are in early September and early February. Grade Placement According to Age – When students register for school, their grade placements are determined by their ages, not by the grades they completed in their countries of origin. When preparing learning activities, teachers consider the students’ previous education.
