- Soon after this humble beginning, Bepi, (abbreviation of Giuseppe) began to receive orders from other people for his footwear. His passion for the surrounding mountains caused him to seek out new and more efficient ways of making shoes and boots and new materials that would allow more secure and comfortable movement in mountainous terrain. The only soles available at the time were made from leather with iron studs to avoid slipping. Bepi shared and approved the revolutionary ideas of Vitale Bramani regarding the research and development of rubber soles. This was the way forward. VIBRAM is now a world wide leading brand in mountain footwear soles. Many trips were made to Gallarate where Vibram was first situated and where the two men together discussed and designed maximum grip soles, and together went off to try them on their own boots in their beloved mountains.
