About the United Church of Christ The United Church of Christ was formed in 1957, when the Evangelical and Reformed Church joined with the Congregational Christian Church. Our beliefs are based on the bible as the rule of faith and the inspired Word of God, and the doctrinal teachings of our parent denominations, allowing freedom of conscience on points of difference. We are ecumenically minded and denominationally governed. We believe in infant baptism.
