About The Spine Center

The Spine Center, Lansing Neurosurgery's sister facility, is an "all in one" option for pain treatment. Board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians collaborate with physical therapists and massage and acupuncture providers to offer rehabilitation, sports medicine, physical therapy, pain management, spinal injections, massage and acupuncture.

The Spine Center features 10,000 square feet of physical therapy space, a large heated pool for aquatic therapy and an on-site pain treatment facility where our physicians perform injections to alleviate pain and conduct EMG tests to diagnose nerve injuries and disorders.

Curt J. Winnie, MD

An altruist by nature, Dr. Winnie feels privileged to help those in need. Having finished his residency at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine, he completed an interventional pain medicine fellowship with Georgia Pain Physicians in Atlanta. He decided to join The Spine Center because he saw that our physicians, nurses, therapists and medical staff have a passion for providing excellent care, which he shares. He also sees The Spine Center as a place offering comprehensive, state-of-the-art care in one facility, and believes this unique environment will help us to achieve excellence in patient care.

Dr. Winnie began his medical education with a Bachelor of Science degree in biopsychology and cognitive science. While studying for his medical degree at the University of Michigan, he was a neuropsychology research assistant in the neurology department. After receiving his medical degree, he interned with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor before beginning his residency. Dr. Winnie belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; the Association of Academic Physiatrists; the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation; the American Medical Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. He says, "I find the most rewarding aspect of physiatry to be the dedication to both maximizing an individual's function as well as continuously striving to improve their quality of life. Physiatry places great emphasis on working together as a multidisciplinary team to customize a health care treatment plan for each individual patient, and I believe this is imperative in patient care."

Dr. Winnie is a firm believer in community involvement and volunteers with several organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, and Meals on Wheels. He's looking forward to becoming increasingly active in the East Lansing community.
