About The Spine Center

The Spine Center, Lansing Neurosurgery's sister facility, is an "all in one" option for pain treatment. Board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians collaborate with physical therapists and massage and acupuncture providers to offer rehabilitation, sports medicine, physical therapy, pain management, spinal injections, massage and acupuncture.

The Spine Center features 10,000 square feet of physical therapy space, a large heated pool for aquatic therapy and an on-site pain treatment facility where our physicians perform injections to alleviate pain and conduct EMG tests to diagnose nerve injuries and disorders.

About Kristy Marske, DPT

Kristy Marske began working at The Spine Center in January, 2008. She quickly found that The Spine Center matched her vision of the ideal facility; one that promotes quality one-on-one patient care, professional development and a team-oriented environment. She was also impressed with our new facility and with the professionalism and friendliness of our staff.

After earning her Master of Science in physical therapy from Central Michigan University in May, 2004, Kristy worked for a physical therapy facility in Lansing while pursuing her doctorate. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Central Michigan University in 2005. She says that "doctorate programs in PT are becoming more common. I pursued my doctorate degree to further my education and so I could be come a well-rounded therapist. I was also able to take additional courses in areas such as aquatic therapy and tai-chi for arthritis." Her treatments are developed based on the patient's goals and usually include manual therapy, core stability exercises, stretching and returning the patient to independence with a home exercise program. For Kristy, the best part of being a physical therapist is helping individuals get back to doing what they love. She would like The Spine Center to become known as a clinic providing quality care for patients with any diagnosis.

Kristy is from the Lansing area originally, and always knew she wanted a career in the medical field. She recounts a childhood experience that influenced her decision to become a physical therapist, "When I was younger, my grandmother received physical therapy after having a stroke and she was able to regain function and strength with therapy. Seeing her progress made me want to help others in the same way."
