Welcome to my life. Most people have seen me around the University of Maine campus or around Lewiston because I am very visible in my wheelchair, but most people don't actually know me as a person. I hope this web site helps people to realize that I am just like everybody else, and I don't let my cerebral palsy get in the way of what I like to do. Cerebral palsy is just something I have; this does not effect my thinking, hearing or seeing, but unfortunately some people do not realize this. They just think because I have cerebral palsy, I can't party, smoke, drink, have a girlfriend , graduate from college, or do anything else. Because I do not choose to do some of these things does not mean I can not do all of these things. Believe me, I go where I want and do what I want, just like all of you.
I grew up in a very small town in Maine called North Turner with a very supporting family. I graduated from the University of Maine in
1998, and before that I was at the University of Edinboro in Pennsylvania. I don't think you are supposed to transfer to a place that is colder than where you went before, then stay there after graduation but, oh well. My sister also graduated from the University of Maine with her e lementary education degree. Too many people still think that college takes four years, but this is not the case anymore. After I graduated, I bought a big house to rent six rooms to older college student s, my sister was one of them, to help pay for the house. I also worked on campus for three years but it became just a job. So, I did a very hard thing by quitting my job and starting up my own businesses. I move back to the Lewiston area in 2002 and bought my grandmother's nine unit apartment building. I get to see my family a lot more since I moved back to Lewiston. My sister got married to a great guy and now she is pregnant with her first child.
