Overview
Top 10 Rails site (Alexa Top 1500 and improving daily) seeking talent for our small Portland, Oregon based development team. AboutUs.org is a structured wiki of all websites. We support hundreds of thousands of users working together on millions of pages. We're venture-backed with a history of leading startups to successful acquisition.
We are looking for team-focused, talented programmers. Demonstrated proficiency in Ruby/Rails is a plus. The successful candidate will be punctual, self-motivated, an excellent verbal and written communicator, and comfortable in our fast-paced, highly energetic environment.
Requirements
We are looking for people to join an elite team. To be successful, you'll need to have already done the following:
- Successfully worked in a team environment with other talented people
- Aligned with XP/Agile methods
- Deployed web applications, preferably at scale
- Navigated complex systems without a lot of hand-holding
Specialties
Each of us on the AboutUs Dev team bring unique skills and experience to the team. Here are some areas where we'd like to develop more expertise. If you have demonstrated skill and experience in any of these areas you will definitely stand out:
- UX: Are you obsessed with the usability of the software you create?
- Network programming: Have you implemented IP protocols in C?
- Data processing: Have you done batch processing of millions of records on a modern system?
