Title

Goodwill Southern California

Description

The mission of Goodwill Southern California is to enhance the quality of the lives of people who have disabilities and other vocational disadvantages by assisting them to become productive and self-sufficient through education, training, work experience and career opportunities. Goodwill Southern California serves more than 10,000 Los Angeles (north of Rosecrans Ave. from the ocean to Orange County), San Bernardino, and Riverside County residents, including those with physical, mental and emotional disabilities and other vocational disadvantages (such as illiteracy, homelessness, long-term welfare dependency, substance abuse issues or former gang involvement) and employers seeking skilled and qualified employees. Trainees gain job skills and work experience through certified classroom and on-the-job training, through sales of donated goods; through jobs contracted with local businesses; and through interviews with employers or referrals from our multi-faceted employment resource Metro North WorkSource center in Los Angeles. To help more disabled people become enabled employees, Goodwill has more than tripled the number of people it serves since 1997.
