Northern Games Co. Ltd. is a Canadian company engaged in the business of creating, manufacturing and distributing board games, jigsaw puzzles and novelty items. In addition to selling its own proprietary line, the company also distributes existing game products manufactured by other companies.
Northern Games was founded by Mr. Bruce William Downs, who had a keen interest in the toy industry and had invented several games of his own in the early 1980's. After performing much research to the industry and finding that there were no "major" game companies located in Western Canada, Mr. Downs formed Northern Games in 1985 making a commitment to produce good quality leisure products for family and friends to enjoy. He also wanted to assist inventors in bringing their products to market.
The company began business with a single product called Lady Luck and introduced one or two new items each year to the Canadian market, often searching internationally for these products. As sales increased, the company's line increased exponentially and larger distribution channels throughout North America materialized. During this growth period, Northern has added a number of key individuals to help oversee and assist in its operations and future growth.
