Description
The Sacramento County Department of Waste Management & Recycling is responsible for maintaining a waste management system for residents and businesses in the unincorporated area. The Department is part of the Municipal Services Agency and has responsibility for the following services and programs:
Day in, day out, most all of us are touched in some way by the essential utility services we receive during our busy lives – such as safe drinking water, wastewater collection and treatment, stormwater management, and garbage collection. For our department, providing efficient collection and disposal or recycling of our customers’ garbage, recyclables, green waste and bulky items is the name of the game. Our mission statement expresses it best: “We are committed to continually improve customer satisfaction by providing safe, cost effective, efficient and environmentally sound waste services.” We’d like to share with you a few of our key accomplishments during 2004 to show some of the ways we achieved our goals in several specific areas:
· The Department ended fiscal year 03/04 with a $2 million deposit to our rate stabilization reserve. This means we were once again able to hold our refuse, green waste and recycling collection fees steady for the fifth consecutive year with no increase.
