Company Philosophy
AboutUs is a wiki whose goal is to create a free and valuable Internet resource containing information both about websites and other community created topics. The site was pre-populated with information about many different websites and thousands of updates are now being made by people each day.
The vision of AboutUs hinges on the power of collaboration and the unique capacity of wiki technology to capture the coming together of communities.
Because no single resource is as powerful as the one that can tap into the knowledge of every visitor, AboutUs stands front and center as one of the most valuable information resources on the web. By synthesizing informational and commercial sites, AboutUs creates a vibrant community asset.

Company Background
This site was launched in July of 2006 by co-founder Ray King, with a staff of 5 people, and co-founding company Name Intelligence. Although it is beta, all edits will be kept so work done won't be lost.
Finding information - If you'd like to see what we have on a given website domain or share your knowledge of that website domain, then simply enter the website domain name in the Find! box.
Sharing your knowledge - We depend upon users like yourself to update and improve the site. Please feel free to use the many "edit" buttons to do anything from fixing a spelling error to adding a paragraph of text or uploading a picture. We would be honored to have your participation in any constructive capacity.
Our Commitment
Anyone can edit the AboutUs wiki. This is how AboutUs can tap into the knowledge of anyone who chooses to contribute. It does however leave AboutUs vulnerable to spam attacks. In order to protect the integrity of the resource and to engage with the editors, AboutUs patrols every edit made to its more than 4 million pages. In late January 2007 the edits per day broke the 1000 mark. In early April 2007, there were over 3000 edits per day. AboutUs is commited to patroling each of those edits and personally welcoming every new editor who registers. Anonymous edits are welcome but AboutUs encorages community building. The first step in that community building is to welcome each new visitor.
The Appeal
AboutUs is a truly global site with cross cultural appeal. This appeal is achieved by the technology behind AboutUs that allows AboutUs pages to be seeded with basic information on websites.
Once visitors see their websites in a freely editable format, they often supplement the basic information, contributing content and learning how to edit wikis which leads to more edits by that visitor.
