Jesusfreakhideout.com™ is a Christian music resource website and ministry unlike any other on the web. Created in August of 1996 as merely a small webpage, the site soon became the flourishing brainchild of creator John DiBiase as it was maintained frequently. In August of 1998, God blessed JfH with a partnership with a major Christian record company which allowed Jesusfreakhideout.com to be born. The site was moved to NetCentral.net servers where it remained until the fall of 2001 where the JfH left its partnership to venture out on its own. With ten years under its belt, the Jesus freak Hideout looks forward to the future. Our goals are many, as we do our best to bring the latest and greatest in Christian music to the internet masses and beyond. We believe firmly in the positive messages that Christian music has to offer, especially with all the highly negative music the mainstream market is always throwing at the public. In addition to the message of the music in the Christian industry, we believe in pursuing excellence artistically in the quality of the music artists make in the name of Jesus. We also believe very strongly in bringing the message of Christ to the world through music. We've all seen God do mighty things through it and only look forward to seeing more mighty works done. On top of this, we hope to encourage our fellow Christians and all those who wish to visit the Hideout through prayer requests and devotionals. We get this question quite often, and we would like people to understand that is more-so just a 'catchy' name than anything. However, it has become symbolic for the site being a gathering place for all who wish to come, for all the "Jesus Freaks" (or 'ardent enthusiasts' for Jesus) on the world wide web to come and not hide, but to gather, fellowship, and learn about Christ and the music which was made to glorify Him.
The origin of the name isn't too exciting. While chatting online in 1996, John, the creator of the Hideout, had gone by one of the many variations of "Jesus Freak" screen names dc Talk fans would often use at the time the album Jesus Freak was new. NetCentral.net chat rooms at the time were offering "free" private rooms and although it was never used, he created his own "Jesus Freak Hideout," never having any inkling about what the name would come to symbolize or be used for in the years ahead...
