Kyenan's Artwork is best described as following in the Realist Tradition of the Renaissance Masters. Kyenan Kum grew up in Deagu (Taegu) City South Korea. Kyenan began painting in the 60's. Kyenan attended Fashion Institute of Technology in New York to study illustration and changed one year later to fine arts and graduated in 1977. Then Kyenan moved to California in 1978 to attend California College of Arts and Crafts and graduated in 1982 with a MFA degree. Kyenan had many productive years of painting until 1989, when she dropped everything and temporarily moved to Korea to help her sister Sunnan try to stop horrendous abuse of companion animals in Korea. For the past 15 years Kyenan has been very involved with animal protection work in South Korea. Kyenan is the Director of International Aid For Korean Animals (IAKA). Supporting her sister Sunnan Kum with her organization in Korea called the Korea Animal Protection Society (KAPS). Today Kyenan is committed herself to her artwork and painting once again and hopes to have many productive years ahead of her.
