Enterprise digital writing converts handwritten paper forms and documents to electronic data and digital images. Handwriting is captured through the use of digital pen and paper technology. The paper has a microscopic pattern of dots printed on each page that are used by the digital pen. The handwritten strokes are then stored within the pen’s memory until they are routed to the enterprise digital writing server. This routing occurs by placing the digital pen in a cradle attached to a network-connected PC, or by triggering a wireless transmission through a Bluetooth®-enabled mobile communication device.
After routing, the server interprets the handwriting, converting it to digital text. User interface tools are provided for efficiently validating the machine’s interpretation. An image of the handwritten form is generated in industry standard formats and the interpreted data in XML format and ready for integration with systems across the enterprise.
