Search Engine Optimisation or Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of analysing a website and increasing the quality and volume of search engine generated traffic which has been generated through natural and organic search engine results for specific and valuable keywords and search terms. The higher a site ranks within the search engine results, the greater the target audience and the higher the volume of potential visitor traffic.
Search Engine Optimisation helps to promote and develop a website’s online exposure through the use of ethical techniques and guidelines provided by each of the major Search Engines. These can include changes to the source code including; Meta Data, Page Titles, H tags, Alt Tags, Image Tags, Accessibility Validation and removal of coding errors to a W3C standard. It may also be necessary to add new, targeted content to a website as well as adjusting and improving the contextual relevance of existing content. Above all else, if the user experience is good, the content is valuable and the site is Search Engine Friendly then the site will perform well and its pages will be indexed in each of the major Search Engines. The ultimate goal of any SEO campaign is for each and every page of a website to be indexed and listed under a variety of keywords and search terms in multiple Search Engines.
