Maps and streets guide us to our destination. Streets are most common in towns or cities where sidewalks accompany them and they share space with buildings around them. Regardless of how urban or rural the street is, it is defined as the space the public uses most commonly to get around. Maps are a representation of a region, locale or area usually drawn on a flat surface (although topographic maps represent three-dimensional information). We use maps to help locate places or discover information about the world and universe. Maps vary in their type, representation and focus, but usually show geographical locations of things such as cities, towns, mountains, lakes, streets but can even depict land elevation or stars. Streets and maps act as our compass when walking or driving and (depending on the type) can help direct us in many helpful ways.
