For some reason maths remains difficult for an average person, despite the fact that a second, a minute, an hour, can hardly pass without applying it. Our grand parents, when judged by present day standards would be regarded as totally mathematically illiterate, did use maths in their times without fail. They did counting, addition, subtraction, division and multiplication, successfully. And most of all, they did solve for the unknown and mysterious“x”.
