Ray H. Meyer Company was founded in 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio, as a church goods and religious articles store by brothers-in-law Robert E. Vogelpohl and Ray H. Meyer. In 1951, Robert Vogelpohl added the Altar Bread Agency to bring the excellent wafers of Holland to America. The breads are produced by deaf and hearing-impaired adults at St. Michael's Bakery, a nonprofit organization.
