I just got back from my second year attending the Southern California Writer’s Conference. It was a great learning experience and I met a bunch of talented authors. This year I found myself more focused on the business aspect of publishing and garnered additional information for sending out my manuscript. It seems that “platforms” are big right now, not only for non-fiction as I would have thought. Even in fiction, the more you can do to sell your book, the better! I’m lucky in that being on the board for our local parenting organization I have access to all of the high schools and bookstores for any book signings I’d be interested in holding. Hopefully that’s a step in the right direction.
