Same Love, Same Rights® was launched in 2004 in response to the Federal Marriage Amendment Act. Originally, the organization was created as a means to raise additional donations for nonprofit groups working toward marriage equality. In 2007, owners Marianne Puechl & Cindy Sproul extended their vision to include the Mobile Marriage Summit at the company's ongoing tour of Gay and Lesbian Wedding Expos.
