She had an old chiffrobe where she stored all kinds of fabric that gave me hours of creativity. Her old treadle Singer sewing machine was a challenge, but I was able to create a lot of doll clothes on it. Through high school I babysat, bought fabric with my earned money and sewed most of my own clothes. I feel like I've always had a sewing machine, even when I lived in Africa and China.....it was a necessity!
