Deliverance from Violent Crime

On February 26, 2009, following our regular mid-week Service, Pastor Daniel M. Malek, Senior Pastor at Worship Center, in Lakeland, Florida, was invited over to a couple's home for dinner and fellowship after church. We had finished dinner and were sitting in the living room. The weather was nice, so my hosts left the sliding door open with the screen door locked. It was approximately 11:20pm. The couple lived in one of the nicer neighborhoods in the Lakeland, Florida area.

As we sat fellowshipping and enjoying the Presence of God, all of a sudden my host Michael stood up and shouted and threw a pillow in the direction of the screen door, behind where Pastor Daniel was seated. Startled, Pastor Daniel instinctively sensing danger, reached for a large candle-stick holder on the table in front of him, turned and threw it at the screen door area as well. Just then, a full-size black man slashed the screen open with a large knife. Then he and three other black men all dressed in dark-garb with ninja-type face masks flooded through the door-way with guns out and shooting. (It reminded me, for some reason of hitting a bee-hive with a stick, as a kid, and watching, for a moment, as all the bees pour out.)

They should have all been killed, but they weren't !Lead Detective, Mike Evans, Polk County Sheriff's Office.

The sound was deafening as they raced toward us with guns blazing. Pastor Daniel was pistol-whipped in the face with the barrel of the gun and pushed to the ground, as he cried: "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!" Michael, the homeowner, was shot in the side as he tried in vain to reach his phone to call the police. He was violently dragged back to the couch by a gunman, where his wife, Kim, lay hiding under a blanket, silent and motionless, praying she would not be discovered. Her prayers were answered; she was never seen by these men, she was hiding in plain sight, inches from where the agent-of-the-devil was pistol-whipping her husband and she was praying in the Holy Ghost the entire time but never seen by these violent gun-men. What a miracle and one of many this night!
One robber stood over Pastor Daniel and shouted: "where's the safe?" "where's the safe?" as he hit the Pastor once again in his face with the barrel of the black gun, Pastor said, "They don't have a safe but take my wallet and my cell phone!" As these two men stood over Pastor Daniel and Michael, two other men raced through the house looking for anything of value but found nothing, although there were plenty of valuables.

The leader of these men kept yelling to the others, "let's go, let's go," Then he discharged his gun once again right next to Michael's head the sound was deafening and for moments Michael could hear nothing, but a sharp ringing in his ears

The bullet went through a pillow and the side of the couch just a breath away from where his wife lay motionless; less than 6 inches from Kim’s head, as well as missing the Pastor lying on the floor. He was directly in front of the bullet’s path and it embedding itself into the wood molding at the base of the wall directly behind where Pastor was laying with a sharp crack. Another one of many miracles to happen that evening! Pastor Daniel could not naturally figure out how he escaped the bullet’s path. Following the trajectory of the bullet, it was a physical impossibility to miss Pastor Daniel as he was lying on the floor, right in the path of the bullet as it penetrated the molding, directly behind him. To say this was miraculous is an understatement, he should have been shot in the stomach.

All of a sudden, as quickly as these violent intruders forced their way into this home, they spun on there heels and ran out of the house. Their total take for this armed robbery and attempted murder: $85.00 in cash, two cell phones and one house phone.

We just experienced one miracle after another!

Pastor Daniel

Although Pastor Daniel's face was racked with pain, he jumped to his feet and tried to get a visual on the car because he instinctively knew the police would need the description later; as the thugs made their getaway and sped off down the street. Pastor Daniel thought his two front teeth had been knocked out, but thankfully, he could still feel them; the pain was intense. " I was hit forcibly in the face with a gun barrel twice and although my gums and nose were a little swollen; my lips were not even cut, unheard of for such a violent assault. Yet another miracle!"

Turning around a seeing Michael, Pastor began helping him treat his wounds. Michael had a nasty gash over his left eye (that ended up needing 14 stitches) and he was bleeding profusely from that wound. He also complained of pain in his side. When Pastor Daniel pulled up Michael's shirt, it exposed another miracle, Michael was only grazed by the bullet and although there was lots of blood, there was only a slight four-inch gash where the bullet cut his skin. You could see two holes in his pants where the bullet had skimmed through.

The lead detective, Mike Evans of Polk County Sheriff's Office was over-heard telling Pastor Daniel later: "You need to go to your church and have a Praise Meeting, Pastor, because usually violent crimes like this one end in death for all the victims involved!"

Then we did have that Praise Meeting!

Pastor Daniel

Needless to say, our Sunday Morning Service was a time of Thanksgiving and Praise to our Great Deliverer, the Lord Jesus Christ!

My text for the meeting:

Rom 8:35,37,38,39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The end result of all this violence? It brought our Church Members closer together and caused the devil to once again have something he intended to work for our bad, turned by our God into a testimony of deliverance and victory! We are the winners, Christ has won the battle and we are just enforcing His victory here in South Lakeland, Florida! Template:BasicBoxblue
