- I got my first ukulele from my father. It’s a nice middle-of-the-road Supertone Soprano from the 1930’s with a bit of white plastic binding along the neck and around the body of the uke. I’ve seen few like it although Supertone made an awful lot of ukes. It’s original trap-door case is well decorated by my father and did a relatively good job of protecting it’s content while Dad played a couple of state fairs when he was young. My Dad gave me that uke when I was first introduced to them in 7th grade as part of a music class. It even had it’s original gut strings on it. It’s been with me ever since.
