Der Verein "Aspies e.V." (Verein zur Förderung und Integration für Menschen mit Asperger-Syndrom) entstand aus dem Wunsch Betroffener eine eigene Interessenvertretung bzw. Lobby für sich zu schaffen. In der Selbsthilfegruppe (SHG) Berlin wurde dieser Gedanke im Jahr 2002 aufgegriffen und diskutiert. Ein Problem ist, dass es kaum therapeutische, sowie diagnostische Anlaufstellen für betroffene Menschen mit Asperger-Syndrom gibt.
