- I was born in Birmingham in 1970 and spent my first 18 years there, with my parents and my two sisters. When I was 18 I went off to Hull to university, where I studied first Electronic Engineering, then switched to Philosophy when I realised it wasn't for me.
- During my final year I was lucky enough to do an Erasmus exchange with Murcia university for three months, which convinced me that the UK was just too grey and dull for me! So, after graduating I went back to Murcia and worked at the university as a language assistant for two years.
- My wanderlust still wasn't satiated, so I decided to travel further afield.
