REVIEW OF BLACKMORES
Blackmores is a company based in Queensland in Australia, which was founded in the 1930’s by Maurice Blackmore, a naturopath. The websites states that “since day one, Blackmores has taken a long-term, holistic approach to health”. They produce a wide range of holistically based products for a variety of ailments and issues including - sexual health, weight loss, allergies, infections, digestion and Urinary issues, as well as many other formulas. Blackmores makes several, formulas for weight loss, most of which address issues around adjusting blood sugar levels, however, Weight Loss Accelerate, uses another avenue of addressing weight loss, which we will investigate fully to see if it can really produce results in users.

REVIEW OF Blackmores
Blackmores contain a Hydroxycitrate complex which is compromised of Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA). However, HCA is only one component of this “complex” and we would have liked to have seen this manufacturer fully disclose this formula. In general, we believe consumers have a right to be fully informed of any and all ingredients used in a holistic formula. We believe most holistic formulas and ingredients are safe, however, some consumers have experienced side effects, so to avoid this we believe full disclosure on the part of the manufacturer is necessary for safety reasons. Weight Loss Accelerate is purported to be able to “reduce fat stores, enhance fat oxidation, reduce appetite, reduce body mass index and help maintain normal cholesterol levels”. This product is based on Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA), which is derived from the skin of Garcinia cambogia; a fruit which has traditionally been used to treat gastrointestinal issues and rheumatism. It has not been used in folk medicine to treat obesity, however, this element has been touted by many to be the new “next best” weight loss supplement, because it is believed to be able to inhibit the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol, which may then impact weight loss. In clinical trials with obese rats Hydroxycitric Acid showed some promising results in helping them lose weight. However, when similar trials were conducted in humans the results could not be duplicated. This happens from time to time because rats and humans have very different metabolisms and some genetic differences, which can create a situation where a medication or herbal extract will work for one species and not the other, as was the case with Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA); although studies are still being conduced on this element.
