About Us
Caloundra City Sailboards is locally owned and operated by Al Green. Al spent his childhood on the Sunshine Coast and developed a passion for sailboarding in the late 80's. The following year he competed in the Australian Speed Sailing Titles at Sandy Point near Wilsons Promontory in Victoria. On successive trips Al reached speeds of over 37Kts in winds measured at approximately 25Kt.s, (about 5Kt behind the world record at that time), placed consistently in the top 10 in the open division, and repeatedly won the masters division.
Al's obsession with the need for speed led him to build specialized boards for speed sailing. Requests by local sailboarders for custom built hi-tech wave and freeride boards created a small but successful manufacturing operation. He also began manufacturing moulded carbon fibre fins, and excelled in repairing epoxy sailboards.
Personal interest and involvement in the sport have resulted in a genuine knowledge of his products and a practical hands-on approach to selling equipment.
