which is in Hyde Park. We practice twice a week (on the fields at Washington Park during the autumn and spring, with team workouts at the Henry Crown Athletic Center during the winter) and hold regular pickup games (out- and indoor) which are open to anyone and everyone. Junk attends tournaments all year long and competes with college teams from across the country. Starting in 2005, we have split into an A and B team (nicknamed "Shibby") to handle Junk's steady growth over the years more productively. These teams practice separately and are differentiated to a degree by level of commitment and experience, but players on both teams are equally passionate and serious about Ultimate. We invite you to participate in a practice or pickup game, even if—especially if—you are an absolute beginner.
You may be asking yourself, "What it 'Ultimate,' anyway?" This sport, which is played with a frisbee and seven players on the field at a time per team, combines raw athleticism and agility with specialized throwing skills. The Spirit of the Game is an important part of competitive and casual play, and players referee themselves. While intense competition is encouraged, it should never interfere with sportsmanship and joy of play for everyone involved (both players and spectators).
