Your Pilot/Instructor, Jerry Claytor took his first flight lesson at a Lexington, Virginia airport as a high school student in 1972. He soloed in a Cessna 150 and received his private pilot license in Vero Beach, Florida. After completing the Instrument-Commercial course in Fort Worth, Texas, he received his multi-engine rating in Macon, Georgia.
After taking an introductory flight in a powered parachute at a small airport in Brookneal, Virginia, Jerry developed ultralight fever. He purchased a Buckeye 582 Dream Machine in the fall of 1999, and earned his Ultralight Flight Instructor rating a few months later, early in 2000.
Jerry has flown in airshows and balloon festivals in Danville, Petersburg, Whitestone and Winchester, Virginia; Burlington, North Carolina; Dansville, New York; Lakeland, Florida at Sun'n Fun; and participated in a benefit show for a children's home in Sevierville, Tennessee.
