The first issue of Costa Rica Outdoors Magazine was published in December 1994, about 12 years after founder Jerry Ruhlow, a newspaper reporter and freelance outdoor writer from Southern California, moved to Costa Rica. As calls began coming in from readers asking for assistance in planning a trip, Jerry decided there was a niche for a Costa Rica travel service, and a Travel Division specializing in -- but not limited to -- fishing, was born.
