Schloss Dagstuhl Office. Proposals for Dagstuhl seminars are submitted by prominent research scientists and are subject to review and approval by the Scientific Directorate.
Financing
Fitting out of the conference and research center was financed by the Saarland with backing from European structural aid funds and joint federal state funds. Financing is supplemented by donations from various sponsors in industry and the publishing trade. The portion of operational costs which are not covered by participant fees are funded by the Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate state governments.
After evaluation by the Wissenschaftsrat (German Science Council) the center was recommended for inclusion as a research service institution in the joint research funding of the federal and state governments (Blue List). On 17 November 2003, the Federal Government-State Commission for Educational Planning and Research Promotion (BLK) passed a resolution for including the Center in the Blue List as of 2005. The joint funding of the Center by the federal and state governments started in 2006. Since 24 November 2004, Dagstuhl is member of the Leibniz Association, a research organisation made up of 80 non-university research institutes and service facilities from the Blue List.
