About the Ear Foundation
Cochlear implantation provides profoundly deaf children with useful hearing for the first time. A cochlear implant is surgically implanted, and then requires regular tuning by experienced scientists and rehabilitation support by a range of professionals.
The Ear Foundation provides services over and above that provided by the statutory health and educational authorities in the UK, enabling these deaf children and their families to benefit from this latest technology to the maximum.
Although the technology is available, it requires a life-time's informed technical and educational support to enable these children to attain its full potential.
