- This site is pretty much an advert for me. Until recently, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, where I worked on the evolution of colour vision in humans. I’ve also done stints as a field biologist, statistician and theoretician (models of cooperation). In between, I’ve been writing stuff about what other people are doing. For the last five years I’ve been a regular contributor to BBC Wildlife Magazine, providing short stories about the latest discoveries in the natural world. Most recently, I’ve started a blog for Conservation Magazine, called JournalWatchOnline.
