On Wednesday, 7th September 2005, FirstPharm shareholders Dave Black and Glynn Forman announced that they had sold their 100% stake in FirstPharm to Durban based Enaleni Pharmaceuticals, South Africa’s highest rated empowerment pharmaceutical company, whose Empowerdex rating is already at 84%.
A condition of the sale was the retention of the entire FirstPharm staff by Enaleni. FirstPharm will continue to operate as a stand alone, going concern from the same premises it has occupied since 1989. The current management team of Dave Black (CEO), Ira Fosteras (Managing Director), Althea Williams (Sales and Marketing Manager), Gary Smith (Financial Manager) and Vish Narrandes (Warehouse and Distribution Manager), will continue to manage and run the business.
Enaleni’s acquisition of FirstPharm sees the merger of two strong, Durban based pharmaceuticals, one with world class research and manufacturing capabilities, and the other with a proven sales and marketing platform to take advantage of opportunities in all sectors of the South African and export markets.
