Title
Genetic Robotics
Description
Excerpted from the website:
- A genobot is a robot that is designed to learn and adapt to environmental changes based on the biological principles of variation, recombination, and selection. In biological organisms, the elements that are varied, recombined, and selected are genes. In genetic robotics, the elements that are varied, recombined, and selected are sections of software and/or hardware. Genobots' education and control functions are founded on life science computing subsets (such DNA computing chips), Genetic Algorithms (GAs) that imitate biologic evolutionary processes, or both. Genobots do not yet exist, but there is speedy progress in the discipline of life science computing. Biological computing allows extensive parallel processing and will facilitate adaptive neural networks. This may enable genobots to function in multi-faceted and changing environments in which standard robots would fail.
