In 1996, my father-in-law gave me a computer. I dialed up and life has never been the same. That summer I discovered chat rooms. I needed a ‘username’ quick. Remembering a poem I had written in high school, I decided to call myself GentleWhisper. The name stuck. Soon I stumbled upon the wonders of Geocities and free web hosting. GentleWhisper’s Java House was born. In May of 1999, I registered the domain name, gentlewhisper.com. The site has been redesigned and sporadically updated countless times.
