Understanding Self Harm
Description
After 7 difficult years of constantly trying to explain what I was going through, I started writing. For the following 5 years I worked hard at producing a book about self-harm, finally finishing it early 2005.
In July 2004 I was asked to speak about my experiences on live t.v for Channel 5 news. Agreeing to do so, I was quickly approached by BBC3 news that same day, who were also covering the story following the release of information from the National inquiry into self-harm; which was currently taking place in the UK.
A month later I was interviewed for an article in The Observer newspaper, and spoke about my experiences on the Today programme on BBC Radio 4.
