Description
The Northeast Ohio Trade and Economic Consortium (NEOTEC) is an economic development partnership formed to promote trade, business growth and economic opportunities throughout Northeast Ohio.
It was founded in February 1996 as a Joint Office of Economic Development (JOED) in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 307.07 by officials in six counties, which includes the counties of Columbiana, Mahoning, Portage, Stark, Summit and Trumbull. Ashtabula County became a member of JOED and NEOTEC in January 2002. Medina and Wayne counties became members of JOED and NEOTEC in January 2005. Richland County signed on to JOED and NEOTEC in January 2006.
In 2000 NEOTEC incorporated as a 501c3 non-profit corporation. NEOTEC is governed by a 20-member board of trustees which are appointed by elected officials in member counties. Each county may also appoint 1 alternate trustee.
