Description
The Online Internet Institute sprung from the vision of two classroom teachers, Ferdi Serim and Bonnie Bracey, who recognized the need for professional development activities which would help other teachers become part of the Internet community. Their vision has expanded to a national collaborative structure which provides far more than simple skills training.
OII feels infusion of technology into the curriculum is best implemented in an environment where students are engaged in purposeful, meaningful projects that are curriculum-based and utilize technology as a tool in pursuit of curricular objectives.
Though OII professional development may be presented and is useful in any setting, a class, school, or district should be striving to develop an appropriate educational structure to best implement the OII process.
