Title

Peninsula Track and Field Club

Description

The Club makes use of the track facilities at Parkland School where the club has two large storage bins of equipment. Some of the Cross-country work is done at the Saanichton Fairgrounds and Centennial Park. An indoor program for track and field is also carried out at the Saanichton Fairgrounds from November to February. In the fall and spring the club concentrates on cross-country competitions. From January to August the focus is on track and field.

For new members, the emphasis is on learning the basic skills and trying as many different events as possible, having fun and meeting others with similar tastes. More experienced members concentrate on improving their skills to the point where they can compete provincially or even nationally.

In 2005 the membership consisted of 22 Track Rascals (6-8), 68 Junior Development Athletes (JD = 9-15), 9 Juvenile (Juv = 16-17), and 11 Masters ( Mast = 40+) athletes. Athletes, Coaches and Officials from Peninsula Track take part in the Vancouver Island Series, the BC. Provincial Championships, the BC Senior Games, and the World Masters Games.
