Welcome to Readings Books and Music – Australian Independent Bookseller of the Year in 1998 and 2001. Readings has been Melbourne’s pre-eminent independent bookstore over the past two decades. From our beginnings in Carlton, Readings has expanded in size and scope and now offers a vast array of books, music, and dvds in five suburban stores – Carlton, Hawthorn (with cafe), Malvern, Port Melbourne (with cafe), and St Kilda.
Readings offers our customers an outstanding range of products - from cutting edge music to classic texts - and we are proud of our ability to track down hard to get titles. As with our existing shops, Readings online is committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
Readings has always been passionate about Australian literature, with numerous in-store book launches throughout the year that are free and open to the public. We also host literary events with some of the biggest names in world literature. Recent guests have included Jeanette Winterson, David Suzuki, Bill Bryson and Terry Pratchett.
