Red Flags | Unvarnished FACTS behind today's most important health issues

Description

Anita Allen was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and has lived in South Africa since 1946 except for a three-year absence to study in the United States. She holds an MA (Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah) and BA and Higher Diploma in Education (University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa). She has been a teacher, lecturer and TV producer and spent 12 years in the newspaper industry as a sub-editor, chief sub-editor, and science and environment writer before opening a communication consultancy with her husband, David Allen. Since 1999, Allen has written extensively on the Great AIDS Debate and the scientific fields in which it is embedded, as well as developments in South Africa, following publicly expressed concerns and questions raised by South African President Thabo Mbeki. Her interest in the topic started when she read Kary Mullis’ 1998 book Dancing Naked in the Mind Field in which the 1993 Chemistry Nobel Prize winner describes his failure to find seminal research establishing HIV causes AIDS. See her articles here.

Lise Cloutier-Steele is a communications specialist and a professional writer and editor. She is the author of Living and Learning with a Child Who Stutters, and the recipient of a Canada 125 Award in recognition of a significant contribution to the community and to Canada for her volunteer efforts to help children who stutter and their parents. She is also the author of Misinformed Consent – Women’s Stories about Unnecessary Hysterectomy, Next Decade Inc., www.nextdecade.com. Cloutier-Steele has appeared on The Nature of Things with David Suzuki, Canada AM, the Women's Television Network (now W), The Phil Donahue Show, The Body and Health Show, and several other media to talk about this important women’s health topic. See her articles here.

Apart from Red Flags, he writes regularly for Alive magazine and occasionally for a number of other magazines and Web sites (see http://www.davidcrowe.ca/SciHealthEnv/index.html) and has made presentations at a variety of conferences. Crowe has an Honors BSc in Biology and Mathematics and has had scientific papers and letters published on such diverse subjects as plant taxonomy, computer performance analysis and HIV/AIDS. He is president of the Alberta Reappraising AIDS Society (aras.ab.ca), a member of the advisory council of AnotherLook.org, on the board of directors of Rethinking AIDS and is CFO of the Alberta Greens. Crowe is also a communications consultant for a company he founded in Calgary, where he resides with his wife, three teenage children and two cats. See his articles here.
