I ordered a pair of Pisa sandals and they are made in Germany. They don't sell some special styles in the US and after waiting a few months for them to arrive (they were being made in Germany) I decided I needed a pair of Birkenstocks now and due to comfort of my feet and back I couldn't wait any longer, I called http://birkenstocks.sandals4less.com and I left a message and they stayed in contact with me, and after talking with Peter (he is really awesome) he is sending me a pair they had in stock and not even charging me anything extra for a different style. Just know if they aren't something they have in stock they need to be ordered from Germany. Very satisfied with my experience, Elizabeth Armstrong.

History
In the early 1970's Emily Jensen, a certified reflexology instructor at the University of Southern Maine and pioneer World War II era registered nurse was in one of older brother Bill Paulin's industrial business complexes in Portland, Maine treating a movie actress of the period, and was told that a company that sold footwear named Birkenstock sold a massage sandal called the Super Noppy Flex, stimulating feet blood's circulation and mimicking a reflexology treatment. She was told that Birkenstocks complimented her reflexology and health background. Emily drove to the closest location that sold Birkenstocks in Boston, Massachusetts to discover for herself.
Satisfied that the footwear was healthy, Emily called Margo Fraser, business pioneer and founder and President of Birkenstock USA in California and spoke with her personally. From that conversation came Ms. Frasers blessing and a verbal agreement that she would sell shoes to Emily Jensen in her new in-home business. Sandals4less was created in Portland, Maine and came to serve the general population with special services for the elderly and disability community, such as personal in home fitting and delivery. The company grew relying on word of mouth as was typical of businesses in the rural state of Maine during this time.
In December, 1984 Emily Jensen, business partners husband Carl and son Peter moved to Standish, Maine and continued operations, growing to 1,000,000.00 in Birkenstock sales by 2006 from historical customers in Maine and the new forum of marketing on the internet. Birkenstock Sandals4less is the longest running Maine retailer of Birkenstocks and the 992nd retailer in the USA.
