Title
SMARTFORM - Finite Element Analysis of Sheet Metal Forming Using LS-DYNA
Description
Finite element analysis is a technique for predicting of behavior of a system/process under varying conditions. The procedure consists of the modeling of the process( geometry, loads, etc.), splitting of the geometry into interconnected elements and then simulating the process to calculate the resulting behavior of the system in terms of deflections and stresses among others things.
Finite element analysis (FEA) is widely used in the design of dies and in predicting the formability of parts before they are actually manufactured.
In the present context, the aim is to minimize the time and cost for process development and production while minimizing scrap and optimizing the quality of the parts produced. Finite element analysis is recognized by both researchers as well as industrial practitioners to be the key enabling technology for achieving these goals.
