Description
I hold an extensive background in the Tool and Die trade and have completed four College courses in metallurgy as well as having a solid foundation in design, construction and heat treating. Also I benefit greatly in having skills as a professional photographer with a complete in house color darkroom and studio for all my knife photographing needs. Many photos of my work have been published in BLADE magazine, Knives Illustrated, Tactical Knives and American Handgunner. Currently I am exploring new avenues of photography within the digital medium in order to expand the imagery of my knives and to offer my perspective clientele a means of readily viewing my work via internet and email.
I have spent the last ten years honing my skills as a quality knife maker having specialized in folding knives, however within this last year I have decided to introduce and have developed two fixed blades, 'a boot knife' and 'neck knife' with kydex sheaths. I also make Tactical and Art Knives, with Liner Lock construction. I enjoy working in varying styles as I find the change challenging and refreshing. All my knives carry a distinctive Brian Tighe trade mark look and support important design features found on each model utilizing space age materials and exotic blade steels. I prefer to employ a combination of High Tech materials with high tech styling. The Tactical models have Titanium liners and bolsters, scales are G10 or carbon fiber, blade steels range from BG 42, D2, A2, CPM S30V, CPM S60V (CPM 440V) to CPM S90V (CPM 420V)
The art knives I produce have a combination of classic lines with a high tech twist and variety of scale materials are available including exotic woods, mother of pearl and fossil ivory's. I enjoy working with Damascus steels made by various Blade Smith's and commercial Damascus makers, these include mosaic and stainless Damascus. Currently I am also working with Columbia River Knife and Tool and Lone Wolf Knives, the Tighe Tac Spear and Tighe Tac Tanto is being produced by CRKT and the Tighe Pan by Lone Wolf Knives with more models to come. Also in the works for the near future will be joint projects with EngravingArts on a line of exquisitely engraved folding knives each bearing it's own unique flair.
