Title
Columbia Valley Community Foundation
Description
The Columbia Valley Community Foundation was founded in 2001 following a year of planning and preparation by a group of dedicated community volunteers. The Foundation is incorporated as a Society, is registered as a charitable organization, and is a member of Community Foundations of Canada. The Board of Directors currently has nine members and is chaired by Bruce McLaughlin, Windermere.
A Community Foundation receives charitable gifts that are then pooled and administered as an endowment fund. The income from these funds is distributed as grants to local charitable organisations. The capital is never touched, unless otherwise directed by the donor. By this means the capital continues to grow with each new gift, generating income to meet a wide range of community interests and needs in perpetuity.
Through the Foundation, donors have a responsible and responsive means for making the most of their charitable dollars, and establishing gifts that continue to give year after year.
