Caring for Caregivers through education and support - WestTexasCares.com
Description
Caregiver, caretaker, & carer all mean the same thing-they all refer to anyone who takes responsibility and provides assistance for the elderly, disabled or grandchild. Caregiving requires an intensive effort in the responsibility for the safety, welfare and daily activities of a loved one. A caregiver can be anyone, a family member or an unrelated person. A caregiver can live near or far across the city, state or country. If you provide regular assistance to a loved one consider yourself ....a CAREGIVER!
A care receiver is someone who receives assistance and care. The care receiver is someone elderly and/or disable or a grandchild. The care receiver can receive a wide range of assistance from occasional care, daily care or round the clock intensive care.
More than one quarter (26.6%) of the adult population has provided care for a chronically ill, disabled or aged family member or friend during the past year. Based on current census data, that translates into more than 54 million people.
