- Mission and Objectives
- The mission of The Africa Society, a direct outgrowth of the National Summit on Africa, is to educate all Americans about Africa and its people, to build bridges of understanding and partnership, and to facilitate the Continent's social development and political transition to more open, democratic societies.
- A national nonprofit, nonpartisan and diverse, the Africa Society of the National Summit on Africa was officially launched on January 11, 2002 at Discovery Communications, Inc. We will advocate on behalf of Africa and provide a forum for building knowledge about the fifty-four distinct nations of the continent. To portray the extraordinary richness, diversity and uniqueness of African nations to the people of America, The Africa Society will pursue the following objectives:
- To continue the provision of information and education about Africa to all Americans, and to educate them about the National Policy Plan of Action.
