Creekside High School opened in 1990, due to the closing and consolidation of two community schools, the former Campbell (1920 - 1990) and Palmetto (1970 - 1990) High Schools. The consolidation also brought about the introduction of a middle school concept, establishing Bear Creek Middle School on an adjoining campus. Creekside was built to house grades nine through twelve, while Bear Creek would serve grades six through eight.
